FAVORITES Color: Earth Colors(Greens, Browns & Blues{especially Chrystal’s eyes!}) Food: Norma’s Cookin’ & Charlie’s Grillin’ (& they’ll both tell ya I ain’t too picky!) Writers: Stephen King, Watterson, Bil Keane Films: Too many to name; I have found a great deal of pleasure in a multitude of people’s work in and on movies. There are literally hundreds of fabulous movies and performances that have been meaningful and/or extremely entertaining to me, and my opinions vary. I will list SOME of my favorites by category(and I can NEVER remember them all when I’m doing something like this), but I want to preface it by saying there are those I generally love(but may have turned out a stinker or two), those I generally don’t(who may have done a brilliant job in a specific role(s) that I found admirable), and those that are hampered by the fact that I cannot see ALL the movies, and thus don’t get a fair shot. I can’t think of anyone that I have liked every movie they’ve ever done(which is fair, cause I’m sure they don’t like all my songs{if any}, either). Actors: Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, John Travolta, Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Robert Duvall, Harrison Ford, Keifer Sutherland, Christian Bale, Will Smith, Hugh Jackman Actresses: Nicole Kidman, Julie Andrews, Susan Sarandon, Reese Witherspoon Animals: Flipper, Bart the Bear, just about any dog Supporting: This is probably my favorite category. It is a rare person that you know their face and many of their roles so well, yet struggle to remember their real name. These’uns are about the craft of helping make great movies (like so many musicians concentrate on the songs), and I consider them among the greats. Sam Elliott (Tombstone, Roadhouse, We Were Soldiers, Ghost Rider…) Oliver Platt (Three Musketeers, Diggstown, A Time to Kill, Dr. Dolittle…) Ed Harris (The Rock, Radio, Stepmom, Apollo 13, Sweet Dreams, The Stand…) James Woods (Best Seller, Diggstown, Onion Field, Casino, Specialist…) Movies: Impossible! I could list a hundred, and the very best I can do is a top ten, and it still isn’t fair, but… 1. Batman Begins (Someone finally did him right!) 2. Lord of the Rings Trilogy 3. Silverado (one of the greatest westerns ever!) 4. The Ten Commandments (Charlton Heston version) 5. The Green Mile 6. The Shawshank Redemption 7. The Wizard of Oz &The Sound of Music (tie) 8. The Indiana Jones Trilogy (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade) 9. Back to the Future Trilogy 10.OOPS! – tie between Jaws, Dances with Wolves, Robin Hood(Costner version), Independence Day, Italian Job(Wahlberg, Sutherland), Deep Impact & Armageddon, Three Musketeers(Platt, Sutherland, Sheen), X-Men, A Time to Die, Walk the Line, Coal Miner’s Daughter, Tombstone, Bull Durham, Rocky(s), Diggstown, ….(I told ya…) Music favorites are covered on Influences page…
